A cooking sauce, a dessert sauce, a quick appetizer and a flavor inspired by the aromas and foods of New Orleans!
Bananas Foster - a New Orleans Classic Serves 6 to 8
4 bananas
1 cup orange juice
1/3 jar of Caramel Pecan Sauce
Optional: 1 Tbsp. brandy or orange liqueur
-
Slice bananas into large skillet. Add orange juice.
-
Cook on medium heat, stirring gently to insure that each slice of banana has some orange juice over it - this will prevent bananas from turning brown.
-
When mixture is hot and bubbling, add Caramel Pecan Sauce and continue to cook and stir gently just until sauce has thickened a bit and bananas are becoming soft.
-
NOTE: You can hold the Bananas Foster at this pint and reheat to serve later. Just before serving, gently stir the optional brandy into the hot sauce.
-
Serve Bananas Foster warm - over vanilla ice cream!
