Mulling Spices

Spiced Bagels

You will need:

    Bagels or English Muffins
    Butter
    1 package of Mulling Spices

Spread butter on the bagel or muffin. Sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of Mulling Spice on each bagel. Toast to a nice brown and eat immediately!

Note: We love fresh cinnamon toast - This is better!

Hot Mulled Cranberry-Apple Juice

You will need:

    1 package Mulling Spices
    1/2 gallon Cranberry Juice
    1/2 gallon Apple Juice

Mix the juices in a large boiler that will go on top of the stove. Add the Mulling Spices and stir well. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Serve warm from a pitcher or a punch bowl. ( You can use a large percolator. Put the juices in the coffee pot and the spices in the basket and perk! It keeps warm perfectly!)

Hot Spiced Fruit

You will need:

    1 large can pineapple chunks
    1 large can peach slices
    2 cans apricot halves
2 fresh navel oranges, peeled and cut into pieces
1/2 cup of raisins, dark or light
    1 box of Mulling Spices

Open all of the cans and pour the juices from the cans into a large saucepan. Add the Mulling Spices and stir until the spices are dissolved. Add the fruit and stir gently. Put into a baking dish and cook at 350 degrees until hot and bubbly! This will reheat beautifully and can be mixed 1 to 2 days earlier than needed! (Fresh bananas are good too!)

Iced Mulled Apple Cider

You will need:

    1 gallon apple cider
    1 package Mulling Spice
    1 lemon cut in slices

Measure 3 cups of apple cider into a saucepan and heat it. (or use your microwave) Carefully stir the package of Mulling Spice into the hot cider so the sugar dissolves and the spices blend with the cider. Pour the mulled cider into the jug with the rest of the cider and refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve over crushed ice with a slice of lemon.

Hot Spiced Punch

    1 box Mulling Spice
    1 cup water
    2 quarts Apple Juice
    1 large Cranapple Juice
    1 large Cranberry Juice
    16 oz frozen Orange Juice
    ½ sugar (optional)

Bring water and Mulling Spice to a boil. Add remaining ingredients. Serve hot. Keep warm in a coffee pot!  Or put all the ingredients together in a 36 cup coffee pot, plug it in and let it all “mull” together as it heats!

This is my own favorite for cold weather nibbling!

Mama’s Tea

    1 quart of strong tea
    1 box Mulling Spice
3 packets of Sweet and Low or Splenda
1 bottle white Zinfindel wine, chilled
2 – 2 liter bottles of Sprite, chilled

Brew tea, then add Mulling Spices and Splenda to warm tea to dissolve. Chill tea mixture. When ready to serve - pour, tea, wine and Sprite into punch bowl.  To serve a smaller amount, mix 1/4 of the three liquid ingredients at a time in a pitcher. Garnish with lemon or lime slices.
